The 1976 Proof Set was released during the bicentennial year of the United States. T
This set contained the Eisenhower Dollar, Kennedy Half Dollar, Washington Quarter, Roosevelt Dime, Jefferson Nickel, and Lincoln Cent.  The mintage for the set was  4,149,730, which remains the highest mintage for any Proof Set to this day. The increased interest was no doubt the result of people wanting to obtain a collectible from this important year.
